York Saint Patrick's Day Parade

Return to home
We regretfully announce that the 27th Annual York Saint Patrick’s Day Parade has been canceled due to severe weather in the forecast for Saturday.

We recognize that participants have spent a great deal of time preparing for the parade, but public safety absolutely must be our top consideration. In light of the forecasted heavy rains and high winds, we feel that we have no choice but to sadly cancel the parade.

INDOOR ACTIVITIES PLANNED FOR SATURDAY WILL GO ON AS PLANNED. Irish dancing performances will take place at Penn Market, Central Market, The York Emporium, and Martin Library. The Oh! Gill's Irish Dancers, slated to perform at Cherry Lane, will move inside to Central Market.

Caricature artist Mel Conrad and coloring pages for children will move indoors to Central Market. Those who ordered t-shirts for pickup at Continental Square on Saturday may pick them up at Central Market, where committee members will be staffing a booth.

Many downtown merchants have planned special menu items and promotions in connection with the parade, and they encourage everyone to visit downtown and make the most of the day.

We thank everyone for their understanding. Because many of our participants and volunteers have other commitments during the very busy Saint Patrick's Day season, it is not feasible for us to schedule an inclement weather date.

Please save the date for next year’s parade -- Saturday, March 12, 2011.
