Pre-Parade Venue Changes for Tomorrow:

UPDATED FRIDAY, MARCH 10, 2017 (6 p.m.)

Due to the cold weather forecasted, we are making several changes to our pre-parade entertainment schedule:

Oh! Gill’s Irish Dancers will be performing inside Central Market at 12 noon tomorrow, instead of Cherry Lane. McGinley School of Irish Dance will begin at 11 a.m.

Face painting and balloon twists by Atomic Bounce will be available at Central Market York from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. tomorrow (Performance Kitchen area).

Mel Conrad will be drawing caricatures at Union Lutheran Church York, PA, 408 West Market Street, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. tomorrow. Union Lutheran Church will also be selling food and beverages (indoors) in the staging area while participants are lining up. Menu items include Guinness Mac n Irish Cheese, hot dogs, barbecue, pretzels, chips, Bailey's Brownies, drinks and more!

Please dress warmly before heading to the parade tomorrow.

Central Market will also have extended hours for people looking for hot food and beverages after the parade.

A word or two about the weather

Posted Thursday, March 9, 2017

We are getting a lot of questions about the weather. Right now, it looks like cold and dry, so please bundle up and dress for the weather. Come downtown early to park your car and put your chairs and blankets along Market Street to save your viewing spot, and then explore downtown and the many shops and eateries. Stay warm with some coffee, hot chocolate, soup or stew, etc. We’ll have pre-parade Irish dancing in four locations (three of them indoors).

Visit Downtown York, PA's website for shopping and dining information:

In the event of light rain or snow, the parade will go on. Due to the amount of advance planning that goes into the parade, and because many of our participants and volunteers have other commitments during the busy Saint Patrick’s Day season, it is not feasible to have an inclement weather date. The parade will go on as scheduled if there is light rain or snow. The parade would only be canceled in the event of severely inclement weather where there are serious safety concerns.

Thank you for your interest in the York Saint Patrick’s Day Parade!
