Greetings
from the York Saint Patrick’s Day Parade Committee.
If
you are following the weather forecasts for this weekend, you are likely as
anxious as we are about the possibility of showers on Saturday. We are
monitoring the weather forecast and will continue to do so throughout the week.
It is the intention of the parade committee to announce any weather-related
decisions by 8:30 a.m. on Saturday.
We
advise all parade participants and spectators to utilize the following options for
weather-related announcements:
Facebook: Facebook.com/YorkStPatParade
Twitter: Follow @YorkStPatParade
Web site: www.YorkSaintPatricksDayParade.org
Television: abc27 WHTM, WGAL-TV, WRCT Channel 18
Radio: WGTY 107.7
A
recorded message will be updated on our cell phone voicemail (717-578-0146). Due
to the high number of calls, it will not be possible to respond to all calls. Email will be the best way to reach us if
you require a response: YorkStPatParade@gmail.com.
Due
to the enormous amount of advance planning that goes into the parade, and
because many of our participants and volunteers have other commitments during
the busy Saint Patrick’s Day season, an inclement weather date is not
feasible. The parade will go on as
scheduled if there is light rain or snow.
The parade would only be canceled in the event of severely inclement
weather where there are serious safety concerns.
We
recognize that participants have spent a great deal of time, effort and money
preparing for the parade, as has the committee for the past year, but safety
must be our top consideration if the weather becomes severe, or if conditions
are left after severe weather that will make participating unsafe.
We
thank you for your understanding. Let’s
draw on the luck of the Irish and hope for a grand and glorious day!!
